If you experience a lot of Stress, what can you do?

Less Stress & Build your Resilience

Wellbeing and work life balanceAs we are all working harder than even, with more pressures – ask yourself this question: Is it more or less important to take care of yourself when the pressure is on? More important! What are the things you can do that make a difference?

Reduce Stress by recognizing: Are you a People pleaser?

The stress sympton is alerting you to find the balance of  pleasing self with pleasing others. We people please to get approval and validation from the outside in, we need instead to approve of ourself. When was the last time you did that? Remind yourself of past achievements. Put the focus on what you have done, not what you have not done. Tell yoursef how well you are doing and how well you look and change negative habits to ones that work better for you.

Stress comes from never saying No

Do you have difficulty in saying ‘no’ to other people’s requests of you? This indicates you have a deep seated desire for approval and think that if you always say Yes, then you will be liked, or even loved. However, again balance is required as every time I say yes to someone, I say No to myself. Have you poor boundaries around time you are not available?

Stress comes from poor Boundaries

We all need boundaries around time we are not available. It is okay to say No. Having difficulty in doing that comes from childhood where it may not have been safe to say no to a parent. However, as an adult, it is safe to take time and space for yourself and balance caring for others with caring for self. If you have to work in the evening at home, set a limit to the time spend, a half hour after children are settled to ensure you have time for yourself.

Why do we experience Stress?

Stress comes when we need to move back towards to wellbeing.  We need to see stress as a best friend telling you to take more care of yourself, to make time for yourself to exercise, see a friend, schedule a regular date night with your partner. To get 7/8 hours sleep a night, to drink in moderation and to eat healthy foods. So, take care of yourself, treat and reward yourself from time to time and you will build your resilience in dealing with whatever life brings and manage it better!
